i have always liked visual art, though creating it from scratch never came naturally to me.
i found things like anatomy difficult, but i always enjoyed the colouring aspect of it. for a while, i printed artwork and coloured it myself, like the image of zen from omega strikers shown here.
photography felt different. yes, composition still has its own principles, like framing, lines, colour and the rule of thirds, but the process felt much more natural to me.
instead of creating a scene from nothing, i could use the eye i already had developed for colour and composition to capture what was there and preserve it.
for reasons i still cant explain, none of this seems to carry over when i use a phone camera though
